Olympic Valley

During the last half century Olympic Valley has grown from an undiscovered mountain valley into a dynamic ski community offering many opportunities for locals and visitors alike. The most prominent feature is the Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort (formerly Squaw Valley), which provides numerous ways to play year round and simply enjoy the mountain lifestyle. The Village at Palisades Tahoe is a pedestrian village at the base of the ski area offering a variety of shops and restaurants, making it easy to spend an afternoon or evening experiencing the ambiance of valley. The Village hosts a variety of events throughout the year including festivals, music, wine tasting, kids activities and more.

Olympic Valley is home to an 18 hole golf course situated in the beautiful meadow. This is a links style golf course with stunning mountain views. It is accessed from the Resort at Squaw Creek hotel-condo complex.

Squaw Valley Park, at the entrance of the valley, features a soccer field, play ground and a great starting point to embark on the surrounding trails. The paved bike trail leads into the Village as well as along the Truckee River corridor heading to Tahoe City. Within a short distance you can also access several mountain bike trails.

Shirley Canyon offers hiking for all ages and abilities. The trail head is located at the far west end of Olympic Valley. A short way up the trail brings you to beautiful granite flats and spring time water falls. If you choose to do more, Shirley Lake is a lovely picnic spot or you can hike further and connect into the Pacific Rim trail system.
